Talk Surrey CIO

My nominated charity is Talk Surrey CIO.

Talk Surrey is a charity that offers long-term communication and social support for people with aphasia and their families in Surrey.

Aphasia is a language and communication disorder caused by damage to the left side of the brain, often as a result of a stroke.

Talk Surrey hold support sessions in 4 Surrey locations: Guildford, Walton, Woking and Ashford (at the Salvation Army premises on Woodthorpe Road).

These sessions provide a friendly and supportive environment
where people with aphasia can practice their communication skills and build their social confidence.

The Talk Surrey website can be found at:

Thank you for your support

East to West

East to West are an Egham based charity dedicated to ‘bringing hope to young lives’. Working in partnership with schools, colleges and St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, we’ve pioneered Relational Support Work, a pastoral response putting young people at the heart of a targeted wellbeing and mental health response.

Our hospital work focuses on those who’ve been admitted having self-harmed, attempted suicide or who’re struggling with an eating disorder. The team (largely volunteers) work in tandem, with one sitting and sharing with the young person, whilst the second team member supports the family, many of whom are often in shock or questioning their role in the issues their child is struggling with.

We are delighted to have been invited to be Ann’s charity of the year, and we look forward to getting to know many of you over the course (pun intended!) of the next year.

To find out more visit email Dan Beedell at or ring 07412 072987.

Any support is greatly appreciated.
